Here's the whole sequence. It runs 10 days, it never nags, and it gives them an easy way to say no. Start with the day 2 text.

A prospect who loved the call and then vanished is usually in one of four spots: busy, unsure but awkward about saying so, waiting on someone else, or they've decided no and don't want an argument. You can't tell which. So every message below gives them an easy way to answer, including 'no'.
The 5 rules:
1. One question per message.
2. Never write 'just checking in' or 'following up'. They know. Say something specific.
3. Use their words from the call. It shows you listened.
4. Text in the daytime, in their time zone.
5. Stop after day 10. A clean ending beats a fourth nudge.
Why it works: The rules keep you from sounding needy, and the sequence ends before it turns into nagging.
Text 1, day 2: pick up where you left off
Hey {first_name}, it's {your_name}. Something you said on our call stuck with me: {thing_they_said}. Did anything come up since, or are you still working through it?
Why it works: It shows you listened and asks a question they can answer in a few words. There's no ask yet, so there's nothing to say no to.
Text 2, day 5: make it easy to say no
{first_name}, I don't want to be the person who keeps texting. Quick check: are you still planning to {their_goal}? If the timing is off, just say 'later' and I'll leave you alone until you tell me. If it's a no, that's fine too. I'd rather know.
Why it works: Permission to say no is what gets the answer. People reply when it feels safe to say anything.
Voice note, day 7: a voice they can't skim past
Record it on your phone in one take. Keep it under 30 seconds. Smile when you talk, it comes through. Send it as a voice message in the same thread as the texts.
Hey {first_name}, it's {your_name}. Quick voice note, because it's easier than another text. On our call you said {thing_they_said}, and that's exactly what {your_offer} is built for. No pressure at all. If you want to go ahead, text me the word 'in' and I'll send the next step. If it's a no, text me 'no'. I'd honestly rather know. Either way, good luck with {their_goal}.
Why it works: A voice is harder to ignore than a text and sounds like a person, not an automation. Two one-word replies keep it easy.
Text 3, day 10: close the file
Hi {first_name}, last one from me. I'll assume the timing isn't right and close your file. If {their_goal} comes back up, text me and we'll pick it up from here. Wishing you the best either way. {your_name}
Why it works: It ends the sequence kindly and leaves the door open. People answer to keep a door open.
What to say when they finally reply
Reply within the hour if you can. Match their energy and keep your answer short. Give one next step.
They say 'sorry, it's been crazy':
No apology needed, {first_name}. Where are you at with it? Do you want to pick up where we left off, or does it need more time?
They say 'not right now':
Understood, {first_name}. When should I check back, next month or a bit further out? I'll put it in my calendar.
They say 'yes' or 'in':
Great, {first_name}. Here's the next step: [your link or your steps]. Reply here if you get stuck.
They say 'no':
Thanks for telling me straight, {first_name}. If you're up for it, what was the main thing? It helps me get better. And if {their_goal} comes back, I'm here.
Why it works: Each reply gets a short, kind answer with a small next step. Even a no ends well and keeps them friendly.
How to set it up so it runs itself
In your CRM, build one workflow that starts when a call ends with no next step booked.
Step 1: wait 2 days, then send text 1.
Step 2: wait 3 days, then if no reply, send text 2.
Step 3: wait 2 days, then if no reply, send the voice note by hand.
Step 4: wait 3 days, then if no reply, send text 3.
Goal event: any reply, or a booked call, removes them from the workflow.
Log a one-line call note first, with the thing they said in their own words. That's what you paste into the texts, and it takes a minute.
Why it works: A workflow means nobody falls through the cracks after a busy week of calls.
